looking for a place other than ebay to sell two used compound bows, one PSE and one Pearson ZB2 in east tennessee
A: If you don’t mind using the mail/UPS you can probable make more money on them, by selling them on line…The buyer pays shipping, so you should come out on top…It’s cheaper than advertising in the classifieds, and you get a much wider/targeted audience..

Yes, you can sell your bows on those “gun” sites…
Q: Has anyone ever used a compound bow before?
I am getting back into archery again after many years and need to use a compound bow due to a previous back injury but have never used one. What are they like to shoot? Are they as easy and smooth as people say? Does anyone know of a good company to buy one from?
A: Have a look at the Oneida, they are super smooth. As for easy, that term is relative. It is a lot easier to start with a compound bow, at the beginning you can go from zero to hitting almost all golds from 20 yards within a few sessions. The mechanical release, peep sight and the let off(to a smaller extent) made this possible. But to get to the top of the world ranking, it’s just as hard if not harder than a recurve.
Many people pick a compound for hunting because they can set the bow down during the off season and pick it back up again next year without much of a problem. Do that with a recurve or longbow and you’d be pretty much starting from scratch.
As for bow companies, other than the Oneida I mentioned at the top, some of the other major players are Hoyt, Matthews and Bowtech. You didn’t mention a budget, but if the sky’s the limit, you really can’t go wrong with any of the big names in terms of quality and support. Post sale support is the big question, some of the brands don’t have enough dealers around, that when something happen you’d be hard pressed to get support. Best thing to do is find a local archery store and try out a bunch of them. The bow’s capability today is way beyond our shooting capability, so it boils down to how you like the feel of the bow and the looks.
Q: i recently bought a used compound bow. it came with a metal bar, 8-9 inches in length, with a cylindrical weig?
it came with a metal bar, 8-9 inches in length, with a cylindrical weight attached to the end of it. how does this attach to the bow, and why? im guessing it attached to the bottom, facing away from the shooter, used as some kind of balance weight?
A: You would probably be correct that it is a counter-weight. Such a device is usually attached to the bow by means of a threaded rod at the end of the weight, which threads into a “nut” set into the bow (just below the handle). The threaded end can sometimes be inserted through a hole in the bow, and a separate nut threaded onto the rod.
I don’t personally like to use counter-weights on my bow, because there isn’t always enough room out front for them — and having one sticking out in front of the bow just limits even more the opportunities to shoot when I’m in brushy areas. Imagine having to swing the bow to the side while at full draw, and that weight bar is *clack-clack-clacking* against the branches and brush…..
Q: Can you use compound bow mechanical broadhead in a crossbow bolt?
I just purchased a Horton Summit HD Crossbow and some additional bolts. I am wondering, can you use expandable broadheads that are designed for compound bows, such as the RAGE 2, in these bolts or do I need to purchase broadheads specifically for crossbow bolts?
A: Absolutely! I shoot a Horton 175 HD with mechanicals and they perform flawlessly. Definatly go with 125 gr at minimum. I prefer them over fixed blades since they fly like a field point at 325 fps.
Q: I have bought a used compound bow and it has a bad paint job what type of paint would u use.?
Its gonna be painted black
A: i would say a spray paint meant for metal.. go online and look that up and i am pretty sure you will find something useful
Q: does anyone know anything about “blue mountain archery” compound bows?I cant find any info. on this bowcompany?
my dad got me a used compound bow made by blue mountain archery ,it is bright purple which makes me think it may have been made for competition target shooting.I cant find any info. on this company.Thank you for any help!
A: they were really popular in the mid to late 90’s with the Wolverine model bow. It had a machined riser and dual hatchet cams. It was a 300fps+ bow for $350. Really a great bow and you will see one on ebay every once in a while. I had one with rollerbrink cams on it for 3-D and it was a shooter. They were great hunting and competition bows. Good luck.
Q: where is the best place I can sell a used compound Bow?
A: ebay
Q: SHIELD CUT FLETCHING USED ON COMPOUND BOW?
Im new to archery and I basically received a couple boxes of arrows for dirt cheap. They are shield cut and I have a compound bow… Is it still ok if I shoot them out of my bow? I don’t know if it makes a difference but I also have a whisker biscuit for an arrow rest.
A: They will shoot in your compound. But are the arrows spined right for your bow poundage?I have found the shield cut feathers to be a little more noisy in flight then the standard cut. The whisker biscuit will shoot them the same as any feather.
Q: Can you shoot a compound bow without using a sights?
I am a HUGE fan of archery, but have never shot a compound bow before. I think that release aids and sights completly kill the whole idea of archery, so I was wondering if you can use a compound bow without using sights, just sit the arrow on my finger?
Thanks.
A: You absolutely can. The only difference you’ll see is actually getting a let-off at full draw length and not tiring out as fast.
Q: Im buying a used Oneida compound bow?
At a local archery shop, I stumbled upon an older Oneida bow. Having never seen a compound set up like this one, I was very curious. I drew it back and was blown away by the smoothness of the draw. Im planning on trading in an old jennins for the Oneida. Does anyone have any opinions that could help me decide if this is wise. Thankyou
A: good choice ……don’t fall for the, I need to have greater than 300 FPS with that new Matthews bow…….make sure he puts on a new string and check the limbs for de-lamination….
Q: What is the best compound bow you have ever used?**?
**That isnt over $300.
**That is 40 – ^ lbs. draw.
A: I love my new Martin Bengal. All the features of a high price bow for hundreds less.
Q: what is a good used compound bow?
I am an advid hunter beginning to get into bow hunting. Please let me know what is a good bow with a draw weight that goes from 40-60 or 30-60 somewhere around that, tell me what is a good price and where I can get one. I prefer used
right now I’m borrowing a browning thing is though I don’t have but maybe $150 to spend on a bow right now the matthews dtx is my favorite but I don’t have that kind of money right now.
A: bowhunting is by the far the hardest kind of hunting there if for deer, i use a hoyt trykon, hoyt makes tons of bows for any draw lenght and weight
while mathews makes good bows, they are often way out of the average joes price range,
you cant go wrong with hoyt,
Q: what is a good compound bow for deer hunting?
ive never had a compound before, and i am getting bored with my crossbow. Im looking for models, draw weight reccomendations and just general size advice. Also prices for bows used would be nice, if i get one it probably wont be new
A: Buy a used one at your local archery shop that they took on a trade in. This way you will save money, and the shop can make sure it fits you,(draw length and draw weight ) and sell you the accessories that go with it that you may need. Plus, they will let you shoot the bow to see if you like it. Good luck!
Q: I hurt my collarbone using a compound bow, is this a result of bad form, how can I correct it?
I got a compound bow for my birthday, its a 55 pound draw, and I’m pretty new to archery. I went out and shot as many arrows as I could for a couple days. My right collarbone began hurting soon afterwards (I’m right handed) and I’m trying to figure out if its a result of bad form or if ‘m just sore from using different muscles to shoot the bow.
A: There is nothing wrong except you jumped into it and shot too much too soon. Lay off a while and just shoot a few arrows a day, and every few days add a few shots to your shooting session. The muscles you use in bowshooting are not normally used in the course of everyday life. You will have to gradually build up to the extended shooting sessions.
