Q: a nice youth compound bow?
i need a good compound bow for under $180 has a nice draw weight and can take small game so a 30-50lbs because i need it for deer
im willing to go to $200 and im 12 so base your answers off of that
big boy you told me every thing i wanna here

A: I am one hundred percent in love with the browning micro midas three. They are in my mind the best youth bow you can buy. The limbs that come with it are from 20-40 lbs limbs. You can upgrade the limbs as you get stronger for forty dollars. They shoot about 278 Ibo and accurate. The draw length is also fully ajustable from 17 inches to 27 inches. If you want to buy one brand new you it will cost you about 175 dollars.

Q: Is a 25 lbs youth compound bow good for me?
I’m about 1.70 meters tall and i plan to get this: http://www.arcuri-sageti.ro/kituri-junior/co-002-set-arc-compound-de-agrement.html. Would it be any good for rabbit hunting? i’m about 16 years old and i’m affraid i’ll look foolish using one of these. If you can recommend a bow for under 55 bucks i would appreciate it (btw, i live in romania and can’t afford shipping from other countries or anything pricier, jst cuz my dad is cheap, and i dont really deserve anything). Thanks for replying.

A: get a job and stop waiting for dad to do everything, u said u dont deserve anything so why are u asking your dad to waste 55 bucks on you. sound spoiled. that bow is small but prob all u can handle anyways. take it and be thankfull

Q: what is a good first compound bow for youth?
what is a good compound bow for you. I would like one that could take down turkey

A: If you’re new and still growing I got my kid a nice PSE at wal mart that didn’t cost too much, plenty of power for a turkey. You WILL have someone coming on there and tell you you need to spend 3 or $400 to get started don’t listen you may decide you don’t like it and have $400 worth of stuff you don’t use

Q: Is it OK to use a mechanical release on a Compound bow?
It’s a PSE mini G youth bow, and I heard that using a mechanical release can damage bowstrings unless you have a D-Nock loop. Is this true? Because I don’t think I can get one. Will i have to use a finger Release?

A: Depends on what kind of mechanical release, if you have a trigger release as opposed to something like a thumb or BT release, then the no. A BT release has a little loop on it that goes around the string, a trigger release put metal right onto the string, that’s bad. A D loop is not hard to make yourself, all you need is a thin maybe 100 lbs test braided nylon cord. Burn one end of it so you get a nice knob, do a lark’s head knot, cut to the desired length, burn the other end and do another lark’s head. Add some superglue to the knot for good measure.

Q: Advice on which compound bow to buy?
Im 14 years old and i am going to get a compound bow before the season starts. I currently own a pse spyder youth bow which i have grown out of and now it is time to get a new one. Im looking at the browning illusion and the the bear truth 2 which compund do you think i should get i dont care what brand.

A: I have read the test reports on the bear truth 2 in bowhunting world by norm mulaney. It is an excellent bow for any one to buy.

Q: Traditional longbow or compound bow?
I am looking for a new bow (my old compound youth bow no longer suits me) and I am considering getting a traditional longbow. I personally think the “old classic feel” of it would be nice. But I am worried about hunting and such. I mainly only hunt white tail deer, but would like to maybe try elk soon. Can I get some opinions and facts from people who have used both? Also, can someone give me a list of places that are good to buy longbows? I have found a few sites that “custom make them to my specifications” (my height, draw etc…)

I can pull my fathers 60 pound draw Hoyt fine.
I am 5′6 and weigh 160lbs
I forgot to mention the site I was looking at…

A: Compounds are instant gratification…they can be mastered rather quickly as compared to practicing enough with a traditional bow. But you are very limited as to what position you can shoot from. Traditional long bows are awkward in the woods due to their length, but my 56″ Browning recurve (overdraw to 60#) is handy enough and lighter than most compounds. I also soot a self bow that is 44″ nock to nock (21″ draw) that shoots a 375gr arrow at 200fps and is just about the handiest bow I have ever used…pretty much just a stick and a string…don’t worry about having adequate power. No amount of equipment and technology will ever fully substitute for training…get what ever bow feels go to you and practice, practice, practice

Q: I am looking at compound bow for a cheap price but good quality. what is it?
I like every form of hunting and I have 2 bear compound bows one is a youth and the other is junk what should i buy that is good and around 300 dollars?

A: Mathews or Hoyt.

Q: What do you think of a Darton Ranger 7500 bow?
I was given a Darton Ranger 7500 compound bow. The max weight is 60 lbs. It seems fairly old, maybe 10 – 12 years old. I tried to find some info on it, but the newer Darton Rangers are youth bows. This is not a youth bow, as you can tell by the draw weight. Also the draw length is pretty long as well. It is a dual cam bow. Anybody familiar with this bow?

A: I own one…I have 2 newer more expensive bows but the Darton is more forgiving. I’ve had mine for probably 12 years and have killed many whitetail deer with it and also a black bear. If it was a gimme, you were lucky

Q: A tip on how to get a bow.?
Well, I’m thinking of buying a youth compound bow considering I am only 5′0 and around 95 lbs. But since I am 14, I may grow fast. I’m really here for tips on how much drawback is too much or too little. I would go to an archery shop, but I don’t believe they have any in San Jose. So if any help at all, would be appreciated very much.

Q: Whats the best compound bow for me?
ok i have a real nice bow but its a youth and its starting to get small.I would like a bigger one.Im 15 and im 5′9 im pretty tall. And i need to know if there’s a nice bow out there.

A: I answered already ck it out!

Q: !!!!!Which Compound Bow do I get!!!!!?
I am 14 i already have a bow and it is too small for me now. My draw length is 28 inchs and i can easily pull back a 60 pound bow. I like many differrent types of bows, but my price range is 600 give or take some. I dont need some youth bow thats what i have now. im looking for a high end bow

A: That’s 600 for the whole thing or just the bow? Remember you also need arrows, arrow rest, sights, release, peep sight, stabilizer, sling, etc. High end compounds starts at around $600 just for the bow. Any of the big names Hoyt, Bowtech, Matthews, will make good bows, you just need to go out and test drive them. Any of those bows will outshoot any person alive, but in the end it’s about the feel of the grip and how the bow shoots according to you, it’s also about looks. What looks good to me might be hideous to you. So, go visit some specialty archery store in your area, you’re bound to see a whole wall filled with compound bows.

Q: Compound Bow questions!?
1.) I’m looking to upgrade from a youth bow and was wondering what is a good second bow that is affordable. I am a college student and don’t have a lot of disposable income. This for sure won’t be the last bow I buy so I’m not looking for a top of the line last bow I’ll ever buy type of thing.

2.) How do I figure out what the draw length should be for me? I don’t have the exact measurements for my arm span, but can find out easily.

3.) I have a problem with my shooting which is that my dominant eye is my left eye, but I prefer to shoot right handed (drawing back with my right arm that is) because my right arm is stronger. So is there any way to correct my vision to shoot right handed? ie. aiming a little to the right? I don’t think I like that sound of that. Or am I going to have to start to exercising my left arm more and buy a left handed bow.

4.) For deer hunting should I be looking in the range of 50-60# or 60-70# range. I know that 40# is all that is really needed to kill a deer with a well placed shot.

A: 1. I wouldn’t go for Hoyt, they’re usually a bit expensive. PSE I agree with, they make cheap bows. Look at stuff on ebay, you might get lucky. Always watch for the seller’s rep.

2. Rule of thumb is wingspan /2.5. Wingspan measured finger tip to finger tip

3. First thing, you shouldn’t be pulling with your arms, but exercising your arm is a whole lot faster than reprogramming your brain to switch eye dominance. It is possible to rewire the brain, but it takes at least a year of intensive practice to do it. Even then it’s not a guarantee that your old dominant eye won’t take over if you cock your head a certain way. What you do is you tape over your dominant eye and shoot for long periods of time. After a while your brain will accept the new dominant eye. This exercise also depend on how old you are.

4. 50-60# is plenty for deer. It’ll let you practice more often, and shoot more arrows.

Q: question about a bow and arrow?
what animals could i kill with the fred bear youth compound bow 22lb draw back.

A: small to medium game. Birds at close range, in some states they allow bowfishing, and it would be good for carp, but not much more.

Q: What is the best brand and type of bow for a begging archer?
I am now 17 1/2. I love guns, and love to target shoot. The other day I remembered the youth compound bow i got for christmas 4-5 years ago and how much I enjoyed it! Not to mention that I wasn’t to shabby at it. Until it warped itself… In that case, I REALLY want to get back into archery. I plan on alot of target shooting, and even hunting. I have read up on both compound and recurve bows, and i seem to favor the compound a tad bit more, but im just starting out.

A: PSE.

Q: Beginner Bow Hunter Question?
I decided to buy a compound bow to go bowhunting. I had a youth bow before, so i am not totally new. Im just wondering what is a good quality, cheap begginer bow and some accesorries (sight, rest, ect.) and for about how much.

A: Martin trophy hunter and Bear instinct or element are all very nice bows that are priced low. You should be able to pick one of these up for around 300 loaded with quiver, whisker biscuit, and sights. happy hunting.
