We just got a three years old duck hunting dog to obviously hunt ducks with. However, we have two pet ducks. How do we make the dog not hunt those ducks specifically?

A: The dogs do not hunt or chase ducks. They are retrievers that are trained to retrieve the dead ducks that fall into the water. You will have to see how they react around your pet ducks. If they have an inclination to chase them, you will have to make sure they know it is not what you want them to do. Put the dogs on a leash around the ducks at first, so you can control them. If they try to chase the ducks, scold them and pull back on the leash. A retriever is a smart breed. They usually catch on quick.It is the nature of the breed to try and please you.Eventually they will understand the pet ducks are members of the household.Good luck!

A: As the 1st answerer noted they will automatically drift into the wind unless double strung. The Mojo can face either direction as it will simulate landing or taking off.
Dont forget the alarm posture for ducks is for all to be heads up and facing the wind for a quick get-away. A contended feeding or resting flock has birds facing in all directions. To give this impression I rig about 1/3 of my set on the aft hole. The resulting variety of positions and head directions conveys contentment and I believe it helps with species recognition as well since circling birds get more view angles.

Q: What is the best breed for duck hunting? and what would be better between a lab and a golden and why?
I’m wanting to buy a hunting dog and cant decide what to get. It would be mostly duck hunting.

A: Are you hunting field or water? The Lab is usually a slightly better water dog, both are great in the field. If you’re not insistent on a purebred, http://www.petfinder.com/index.html has many mixes of the two (puppies to adult), which I have found to also be great in the field. Currently, I have 2 Goldens, both have proven to be good water dogs-one of them, I would actually call exceptional.

Got in an argument on what should be worn when duck hunting and I think I’ve seen plenty of people wear black hat’s or beanies while duck hunting…I didn’t think it would matter.

A: Ducks have very good eye sight for movement and detail. So if you are wearing a black hat with a background of snow they will see it.
I am just now getting back to duck hunting. But years ago I was out every weekend duck hunting. My brother and I tried experiments to see what would spook ducks. We found they can see your eyes while they are flying by at 60+ yards and any sudden movement as well. We never wore camouflage in the old days, just earth colors. And we shot our limit many times wearing blue jeans, blue or black ball cap and a green or brown shirt. However we stayed low in the blind and as they set their wings to land we avoided eye contact with them.

So I don’t think a black hat of any kind would spook them if you stay still. Think of it this way; you’re looking down for danger, what’s that black thing moving around? Most predators are brown, tan and black, a natural camouflage.

I grew up in Walnut Grove, I’ve fished and hunted all over there. I did’nt get into duck hunting until I moved to Indiana 10 years ago. My family still lives there, but they are not duck hunters. Where do I go?

A: I think that the best way to go about this is to go to a local hunting supplier and ask what a good spot is. you could all so look at a duck hunting outfitter and see where they take their clients and hunt their or hunt next to the spot. I also know that Alabama has some of the best duck hunting in the world in some areas so I would be hard to strike out. The last thing I could suggest is once you choose a area that you would be interested in pull it up on Google earth or map quest and look at the satellite image and choose the spot that looks best.

A: Travis S has a good answer that I would append to. You may wish to buy the 870 Express magnum with a synthetic stock. This shoots 2 3/4 inch, 3 inch AND 3 1/2 inch shells. The 3 1/2 inch ones are better for longer ranges and geese so you have more flexibility than a standard Remington 870. The synthetic stock is nice in wet weather which seems to be the norm during duck seasons. These magnums do not cost but about $50 more.

Q: What kind of shells do i use for duck hunting?
I’m hunting duck in west texas next weekend, i’ll be using a remmington model1200 automatic 12gauge. So many people say different things, i just need an all around shell. best answer ten pts

A: With Ducks or Geese its always better to use the Mag shell.@ 3 in mag. If your gun isnt chambered for the 3 inch shell then get a 2 3/4 in cartridege that has a a larger powder load and a heavy shot size. Either #4 or # 6.. If you are unsure of the round then open a box and the brass part will be about 1/4+ in on a small powder charge and over 1/2 in on a larger powder charge.. Sometimes they will be refered to as low or high brass cartridges..
Yet even if you do not have a 3 in chamber you can still get a 2 3/4 in round with magnum qualities… Just ask the gun shop if they happen to stock 2 3/4 mag rounds for the 12 guage.. Some do and some dont.
You do need to specify that you are gong waterfowl hunting so that they will sell you a non toxic shot.. Let the sales folks know that and they will be more than happy to help and if not comfortable with that sales person ask for someone else. Like cars not all sales persons are the same and you need to find a sales person who can speak your level of knowledge.

Remember to get a duck stamp or a migratory bird stamp.. REMEMBER that waterfowl / ducks and geese are regulated by the fed gov and shooting them is Federal.. Dont want them bos hot on your tail for anything.. But more than that the purchase of the duck stamp helps maintain habitat and the stamps look cool…. Have to sign it though ** Remember** Not signed then aint legal,,,,

Brand of shell doesnt make a diff. Just the 3 in mag with #4 or 6 shot.. if not 3 in mag then a high brass or 2 3/4 round mag ( if the store stocks them ) and still in a 4 or 6 shot,, NON toxic shot.

Q: What does it cost to get into duck hunting.?
I’m 15 and would like to get into duck hunting. I really have two questions. First, how much does it cost to get into duck hunting(shotgun not included). And second, is this a good sport for someone who has never hunted before? I’m hoping to take the hunter education course next week and really just want the bare essentials, nothing else. As I doubt I can convince my father to pay for anything involved(he’s never really tried hunting or fishing or shooting).

A: my dad and brother are into duck hunting as well. im not sure of the actual price of it..but you’ll have to keep in mind that you’re going to have to buy the camo, possibly decoys, weighters (if your going in water), and any other essentials. im sure the hunters education course will go over all of that stuff. and yeah. its a great sport. my brothers 13 and was into the sport ever since my dad brought us with him when we were younger. my brother also shot his first duck last year. (he just began hunting last winter.) but everything will become more clear after you take the hunters course. hope i helped =]

Q: What size motor for duck hunting boat?
I am going to buy a suzuki 4 stroke motor for my 9 foot aluminum duck boat. They have a 2.5 hp for $650 or a 4 hp for $980. The 2.5 weighs like 35 lbs, the 4 hp weighs 55 lbs. I’m not sure if the 2.5 will be enough. I’ve never had a boat motor before. I will be duck hunting with this boat. Mostly alone, sometimes with another person. Will the 2.5 be enough?

A: It’s the horse power rating you need to be concerned about. Look on the transom. You will find a tag that the Coast Guard rates your vessel at. It will have maximum horse power, number of persons, weight, etc. That’s what I would go off of.

My boat is a 14 footer and it rates for a 10 horse, but I’ve beefed up the transom considerably. Not knowing if you have a flat bottomed or V hulled john boat, I would still think the 4 horse would be alright. You may have to move your fuel tanks to the front or even add weight to properly balance your boat to maximize the motors efficiency.

Q: How to use duck decoys for goose hunting in nj?
I only have duck decoys but i want to hit up the goose season on a pond with my cousins. i have both a duck and goose call. i was wondering if there was a way to bring the geese in with a combination of duck and goose calls with only duck decoys

A: Just set out your duck decoys on the downwind side of the pond. Set up in between the decoys and the upwind side of the decoys. Geese like to come into the wind when landing. They’ll probably circle a time or two. If they have plenty of room to land they’ll set their wings over the decoys and land upwind up the decoys in the clear side of the pond. Use your goose call and give a feeding call. They will pay attention to duck decoys. If the pond is small, it may have to be a pass shoot. If it is big enough, let them land and then flush them.

Q: How far out do duck hunters normally place duck decoys?
My nephew’s friend has been missing for several days…The young man was duck hunting with two friends when he went to retrieve the duck decoys out of the water (by boat). The 2 men waited for him in the “blinds” and said fog rolled in and they lost sight of him. His boat was found 3 miles out in the Trinity Bay, turned over and anchored. They know that the worst has probably happened to him.
I can’t ask my nephew questions because he is too upset, so I am asking you guys. I really would like to know how far out this young man was most likely going to get these decoys. Some sections of their story just doesn’t sound right.

A: Decoys are set with in the effective range of the shot gun, which is not far at all I set mine up around 60 yards in most situations.
Decoys are anchored but some can get away if not set up right.

I have some duck decoys but they don’t have weights, and im hunting on a river. Could i like tie rocks with string on them? How would you set them?

A: The rock idea is not a good one.It would be better to tie one to a good weight and then run the line to several ducks. This way one anchor would be taking care of several ducks. You need to know that the ducks are going to come in against the wind to light. That means if the prevailing winds are from the north(most likely) the ducks are going to circle and come in from the south to light. Make sure the decoys are set to close enough to your blind that the ducks do no come in out of range. I’ve never used a pattern to set my decoys out when I duck hunted but others say they like a fish hook pattern to the decoys set. The location is more important then how they are placed out in my opinion. Put them out in areas of the river that you have seen ducks on the water before. A word of advice here. Do not take your first shot until the ducks have flared their wings and are about to sit down. This is when their speed is the slowest and will give you the oportunity for multiple shots before the ducks gain enough altitude and speed to get out of range. And when you are missing a lot, the odds are you need to increase the lead you are taking on the ducks. Good luck!

i’ve only gone once, but the guy i went with said warm, earthy colored clothes, a few decoys, a duck call,a gun ( well duh), and a dog or a boat, or some waders. What are yours??

A: It all depends on what type of environment you hunt in. In wetlands or marsh/swamp areas you would want earth tones but also wetlands camo. Wear layers because a cold hunt is a bad hunt. You should have waders in whatever camo pattern the area you hunt in would match well with. You do not need either a boat or dog but they both come in handy, you don’t need the boat if you hunt a creek or pond or if you plan on hunting a walk in blind that is accessible by land, and the dog is helpful but not necessary. Decoys are a very good idea because they help bring in ducks (obviously) and they can make a good area look even duckier. You need to pick an area that looks ducky and make the area look duckier to be more successful. The most important thing would be to make sure that you blend in and do NOT move when ducks are circling over you scoping out your decoys, your blind/boat, your whole spot basically because if they see even the first thing that they don’t like then they will be gone instantly. DO NOT WEAR ORANGE! I have seen so many idiot hunters wearing orange while duck hunting that cannot figure out why they aren’t killing birds. The duck call is very helpful only if you learn to use it efficiently because using a duck call and not sounding like a duck will end your hunt early. Make sure you have your hunting license as well as your duck stamp because a game warden would love nothing more than to write you a ticket for not having your license or stamp. Be sure that you have the plug in your gun because that is the second thing checked by wardens. Know the bag limit for where you hunt and know what the ducks you can shoot look like.

A: in the timber….you hold your gun in one hand while calling with the other…between groups of ducks we hang our guns by slings on tree branches or sling them over our shoulder….buy a five dollar duck hanger & hang your ducks or hang them up in a bush or lay them on a nearby log…put your shells in your front wader pocket; thats where i keep mine if my coat’s off” & it’s hung over some branch”..if your coat’s on keep your shells in one of you coat pockets…we all carry a “purse”..cant get by without one…in it is a thermos of coffe; box of shells; extra callers; toilet paper; knife; somethin’ to eat; small flashlite…you know; stuff you gotta have but cant carry in your coat….now; we are able to drive our boats right up to where we hunt; if you’re walking in a heavily packed purse is out of the question..fill your pockets with shells; stick a 20 ounce soda in your other pocket & take off!!!!….have fun & be safe.we’ve been hunting the flooded timber since 1968.

What is the best kind of decoys to make the ducks come in like mojo mallard or any more brands?

A: I use Flambeau and haven’t had any regrets… with all decoys, I personally would avoid mixing regular size with magnum sized.

I am just starting to get into hunting barnyard pigeons in feedlots and grain fields. I currently have a robo-duck for motion purposes and have just been using whitish gray duck decoys for other decoys. I am just looking to get some more info on decoys or how other people do it. A: Pigeons….hmmm. How about silos?-Ya’ always see them there.
Also, use small, white garbage or grocery bags as decoys in the field. Sometimes they will come into those.

Otherwise, just get yourself some “high speed, low drag” varmit rounds for a rifle and have at’er.

-As for shotgun ammo and cal, I highly recommend the 12 ga with cheap, 7 or 6 shot in 2 3/4″ shells.

Q: i read in a book that for duck hunting once the water freezes you can us a black tarp to atrack ducks?
does the black tarp thing really work and if it does how do you make your decoys sit Straight up so they arnt tipped over?? or maybe a blue tarp woks better let me know?

A: Yes I have heard of that but only seen blue tarps used on ice and in farm fields. Ducks are funny at times, had a friend who had a light blue metal roof installed on his cabin. And believe it or not ducks and geese would try to land on it in the fall. lol

Q: Can I hunt ducks without decoys?
I’m new to this so please excuse the question. But can you hunt ducks without decoys? I’m itching to go hunting but I always go with my friends, and they’re out of town this weekend, and they’ve got the decoys. I was thinking of just going out to the lake and calling, or won’t that bring them in and will it be a waste of time? Is there any way to hunt successfully without deeks, basically? A: Yes, you can hunt ducks without decoys. They do improve your chances; on larger bodies of water especially. But they aren’t necessary.

Someone commented on using a rifle. Don’t. Use a shotgun instead.

im new to duck hunting and i was wondering if i had to have a blind, calls, and decoys. i hunt over a pond where they land quite often and i don’t have the money to buy a blind. can i just sit on the edge in camo, when is the best time to shoot, and what should the max range be with a 3″ #2 hi power shell coming out of a modified choke on a 12 gauge?

A: You can kill ducks coming into the pond by building a blind out of brush on the bank. You will have much better results if you throw out a few decoys and use a call. The best time to shoot is right at daylight. If you have decoys, puddle ducks such as mallards will decoy in better in the midday period at times. The maximum range with a modified 12 using steel shot will vary from gun to gun and person to person, but for me it is between 30-40 yards. But the shooting will be best if you have no decoys right at daylight. Good luck!

Q: where can i find a remote control duck decoy?
i am thinking about buying a remote control hunting decoy. i have seen there in calbelas for 100 bucks and the reviews are about half and half. also the range is not very far. i wanted to make one out of a remote control boat and a decoy but need to find a small boat that would fit under a decoy and has high fequency. does anyone have one of these and can tell me a little more aout them thanks.

A: I don’t really think they sell them. Cabella’s is most likly ur best choice. You could try Bass Pro Shops, but it’s probaly going to be the same type. Mabye cheaper thats all. Hope this helps!

A: Some stores do, it all depends on the location. Ours puts out calls, clothing, decoys, and accessories but usually pull it all about half way through the season. Sometimes you can pick up some pretty cheap clearance items when they are pulled.

Q: Why is goose and duck hunting so expensive?
I want to start but cant afford 1 decoy for $100. Why is it so expensive

A: I buy them by the dozen and I think the most I’ve paid for Flambeau Decoys was about $60 a dozen tops. I have no idea what you are buying or from where but you are most definately being ripped off.

I’ve bought full size,life size Duck wood carvings for $75 to put on my fireplace mantel for show. Are you sure this isn’t what you are talking about? Seriously now…….

Duck hunting

He and a friend go duck hunting in winter, and of course all the lakes are frozen. These two guys go out on the lake with their guns, a dog, and of course the new vehicle. They drive out onto the lake ice and get ready. Now, they want to make some kind of a natural landing area for the ducks, something for the decoys to float on.

In order to make a hole large enough to look like something a wandering duck would fly down and land on, it’s going to take a little more effort than an ice hole drill. So, out of the back of the nw Navigator truck comes a stick of dynamite with a short, 40-second fuse.

Now, these two Rocket Scientists do take into consideration that they want to place the stick of dynamite on the ice at a location far from where they are standing (and from the new Navigator truck), and they don’t want to take the risk of slipping on the ice when they run from the lit dynamite fuse and possibly go up in smoke with the resulting blast. They light the 40-second fuse and throw the dynamite as far away as they can.

Remember a couple of sentences back when I mentioned the vehicle, the guns, and the dog??

Let’s talk about the dog: it’s a highly trained Labrador used for RETRIEVING. Especially well trained at retrieving things thrown by the owner. You guessed it, the dog takes off at a high rate of doggy speed on the ice and captures the stick of dynamite with the burning 40-second fuse about the time it hits the ice. The two men yell, scream, wave their arms and wonder what to do now. The dog, cheered on, keeps coming.

One of the guys grabs the shotgun and shoots the dog. The shotgun is loaded with #8 birdshot, hardly big enough to stop a Lab. The dog stops for a moment, slightly confused, but continues on. Another shot and this time the dog, still standing, becomes really confused and of course terrified, thinking these two geniuses have gone insane. The dog takes off to find cover, under the brand new Navigator truck..

The men continue to yell as they run away. The exhaust pipe on the truck is still hot, so the dog yelps and drops the dynamite under the truck, and takes off after his master.

Then –BOOM– the truck is blown to bits and sinks to the bottom of the lake in a very large hole, leaving the two idiots standing there with this “I can’t believe this happened” look on their faces.

The insurance company says that sinking a vehicle in a lake by illegal use of explosives is NOT COVERED. He still had yet to make the first of those $560.00 a month payments!!!

And you thought your day was not going well.

A: I am not one for hunting games. But playing this can actually be really fun once you know what your doing. Patients is a key to hunting in general so just as much as it is in real life it is imposed in the game as well. It’s actually fun training your dog which helps because once you are hunting it makes the task easy. I never expected this to be like duck hunt from the orginal 1980’s nintendo because that game was good for it’s time we are in a new era of gaming and the way they make games goes along with the kind of system it works with. This game does do justice for the wii. If your into hunting and have patients this game is great for you but I do not recommend it for people who want it fast and want it now. Once you get the hang of it you will have endless fun.

Surely I am not the only wife who lives a life revolving around an obsessed hunter. I need to hear your stories. Did I know the hubby was a hunter when I married him…sure. It was a “hobby” 17 years ago. That hobby developed in to …..a passion….in to an obsession….and now it is INSANITY. If it has fins, fur, 4 legs, feathers, or a tail, he’s all over it. Although whitetail deer is his ultimate game. I am incredibly tolerant of this insanity, but it’s really gone beyond what it should, and I just want to know that I am not alone. All thoughts, and good stories are welcome. Here’s my beef:

* He works construction and is typically laid off in Dec., but he requests a layoff the last week in Nov so he can hunt (did I mention that we have 2 children to feed?)

* During any given season, he hunts 7 days/week, most days 12 hrs. and some times more.

* While I work, and he is laid off, I have to pay a babysitter to watch our youngest son, so he can…..hunt.

* When he’s not hunting, he’s on the phone talking about hunting. When neither one of those is ocurring, he is either odering something from Cabela’s, online on a hunting site, or forcing me to listen endlessly to his goose calling.

* When I was 4 mos pregnant w/ son #1, he thought it would be “fun” to take me out in the middle of the night raccoon hunting….pitch black dark, stumbling over logs, with a rifle slung over my back. Cuz’ that’s what you do when your 4 mos. pregnant, right?

* From Spring to Fall, he plans, and plants, his deer plots. And we must pay for shelled corn and feed the deer because the multiple deer plots are not enough. (Can I claim these deer on my taxes as dependents?)

* A fair majority of our income, tax refund, and Christmas Club money goes toward purchasing boats, guns, ammo, targets, equipment, clothes, optics, etc. But when next season rolls around, all of this stuff is miraculously “junk”, and we half to get new stuff.

* He has been late to, or totally missed, family holidays and events because of the “H” word.

* In the final stages of gut wrenching labor to deliver son #2, he tells the nurse to stop everything and turn the TV channel to the “Outdoor Channel”, so his son can be born to the soothing sounds of hunting! I swear to god. I’ve got the pictures to prove it.

* I have 4 deer heads (and 1 at the taxidermist), and 1 duck on the Liv Rm wall. I made him remove the turkey ass feathers. Those are incredibly unattractive on a wall. This stuff is hard to deocorate around, ya know. And if I hang a Christmas bulb on one of the deer antlers, it’s ON.

People, seriously, I could go on for days. I am not joking. This is just the tip of the iceburg. Please don’t tell me “Well at least your husband’s not running to the bars.” Puhhhleeeeeze. This isn’t a matter of morality, infidelity, or substance abuse (unless you consider doe urine substance abuse). This is a matter of “Good god, man. let’s have some balance in your life.” I think when it comes to a point that an obsession like this interferes with your family life, causes you to neglect family/household duties, consumes an unusual amount of your income………….it’s time to seek therapy, or to buy your wife a HUMMER 2. Tell me your stories. I’m listening.
I am truly enjoying each of your answers, but I wanted to clear one thing up. My marriage IS NOT in trouble. My sanity is in trouble. Not thinking about leaving the Great White Hunter, just want to commiserate w/ others in the same boat, or hear it from the guy’s perspective. And if you think I haven’t addressed this issue with the cammo king, you are soooooo wrong. I do so diplomaticly though.
Hey quik66gt ~ love your spirit, but just on the FYI: absolutely appreciate everything my man drags in the door, but unless he plans on milking the does, and the deer are going to shi* produce, Q-tips, and laundry detergeant, I’m thinkin’ I still have to go to the store. As for controlling? Wouldn’t be married 17 years if that was the case.

A: The most important people in your husbands life should be you and the children you created together.
Family should have first priority.

Second priority is providing financially for his family.
I suggest he spend time with the children instead of going hunting. That way the cost of day-care will no longer be a burden on your family.

Hunting should be a hobby.
Whenever a hobby interferes with the enjoyment of being with family, it stops being a hobby and becomes an problem.

Hunting does not have a higher priority than caring for your children.

Imagine how much better would your children’s lives be when their father stays with them at home and helps them with their school work, or even home-schools them?
I suggest he should put in the effort required to eliminate the burden of day-care costs upon your family.

If he goes hunting and returns home in time to meet the children when they arrive home from school, that may be a possible compromise.

The Hummer H2 is overrated. The H1 is better for off-road terrain, and the H3 is much more practical for city, town and country driving.

As for the Outdoor channel during childbirth? I think you’ll just have to live with that experience and re-tell the story to entertain other people.

I suggest engaging in honest communication with your husband. Explain what you perceive are needs and expectations that he’s allowing to be unfulfilled. Perhaps couples counseling or something to help heal the marital relationship would be a good thing.

As “Lovinglife” mentioned, the “date night” event once a week or a month seems like a good idea too.

A: Sorry, there’s a lot of fixes that should be made. But here goes:

Monsters:
1. I’d take out 1 Harpie’s Pet Baby Dragon. It’s a good card for the deck, but your opponent is rarely going to let you get out 2 or 3 Harpie Monsters. As well, as the Harpies get destroy, the Dragon loses some of its effects

2. I’d take out 1 Harpie Lady 1, and add in a Cyber Harpie. I think playing 2 Harpie Lady 1 is enough. Sometimes you need the more powerful Cyber Harpie to push through your opponent in case you don’t have Elegant Egotist.

3. I’d take out Harpie Girl, both Birdface, Swift Birdman Joe, Sonic Shooter, Sonic Duck, Roc from the Valley of Haze, and the Blue Winged Crown. Weak normal monsters are a huge NO. And the effect monsters aren’t worth playing. There are much better choices

4. Now, it’s time for the additions: We took out 10 monsters, and I already said to add in a Cyber Harpie, so there are 9 monsters to add:

- Start by adding your 3 Harpie Queen’s. Good attacker, good effect
- Add in 2 Enraged Battle Ox. I know, you’re probably questioning this, but I love this card. He gives all Winged Beast monsters a Fairy Meteor Crush Effect. It really lets you pound out damage when needed.
- Add in 2 Flying Kamikari. This maintains field presence, and can pull out Harpies straight to the field.
- Sangan is a staple. It can fetch several things, and adds speed to the Harpies
- Raiza the Storm Monarch. Arguably the best monarch available. He causes disruption, and he’s a Winged Beast. He will combo well with the Enraged Battle Ox, and gets a small boost from the Harpie Hunting Ground
- Note: If you don’t like the Enraged Battle Ox idea, then don’t use it. I find it more of a preference. If you don’t agree, I suggest possible adding in a Hand of Nephthys and the Sacred Phoenix. The Hand is a win, and can be searched by the Flying Kamikari, give it an immediate presence on the field. Next turn, drop any monster, or even a token (if there is one) for a huge Phoenix.

Spells:
The following are spells I don’t feel are necessary. I would drop Fairy of the Spring, Swords of Revealing Light, Hammer Shot, Different Dimension Capsule, Dark Factory of Mass Production, and Fissure. I highly suggest you take out Black Pendant, but I’m sure you won’t. My reasoning is that, those cards aren’t necessary or too slow.

In turn I would add:
- Another Triangle Spark. You don’t need the sisters on the field to activate it. It just has a direct effect on them. So really, it can be played for the trap negation. This allows you to push for damage when needed.
- Add in 2 Book of Moon. Turning some big attackers face down will definitely save you.
- Replace Fissure with Smashing Ground.
- Add in 1 Enemy Controller. Helps to block attacks, and can steal big attackers
- If you decide to play the Phoenix, then play Scapegoat. Otherwise, keep playing Swords of Revealing Light

Traps: We’re going to do an overhaul on traps, so I’ll introduce 10 different traps
- Mirror Force: definitely helps
- Torrential: Excellent field clearer
- 2 Bottomless Traphole: Superior to Trap Hole
- 2 Hysteric Party: As you need, an “ultimate missing card”
- 3 Solemn Judgment: Negates almost anything. needed
- 1 Icarus Attack: a good 2-for-2 removal card

Q: Duck Hunting Calls – need feedback from experienced duck hunters?
I have 4-5 duck calls currently…all are fine, but I’m looking to buy a better quality call this year and am hesitant to spend $150 or so without getting some input from experienced duck hunters…i’ll be hunting from pit blinds in marshy areas, small bodies of water, and rice fields. Please provide input on single or double reed calls that are easy to blow and high quality.

A: I bought a single reed wood call off ebay last year for $20 that has been the best call I’ve ever purchased. It’s nice and raspy and sounds more like a hen mallard than many of the acrylic high dollar calls on the market today. Look up guileather as the seller on ebay

Q: duck hunting calls?
well i am kind of new at duck hunting and just got my 1st duck call today…i am a deer hunter and know when deer calling you dont do it much…just a few times every few hours…but when duck calling do you do it a lot and loud? i got 2 one reed duck calls ( 1 for me 1 for my dad ) now is there a ‘rhythm’ that you gotta use? any info at all about duck hunting would be very nice.

A: Listen to duck when they are feeding, it’s easier than me trying to explain it in a post! You are looking for a chattering noise rather than loud quacks, also I would buy one of the calls that you shake rather than blow, they give a very authentic noise and are easier to use. “Scotch” calls make the best in my opinion. Also, you can easily frighten duck away by giving the wrong sound.

Q: Help Find Duck/Geese Hunting Calls.?
Does anyone know where to find duck/geese call near San Mateo?

A: canadas have a deeper honk than snows and blues and woodducks whistle if you have decoys out blow your calls the way the regular way and then the birs will come dont worry how woodducks and canadians sound they will come to decoys regardless just have fun

Q: Do you use homemade animal calls for hunting?
So how many of you have a moose call, deer call, duck, varmint, turkey or other call you made or a friend made that you use for hunting?

A: I have made quite a few ‘wing-bone’ calls for turkeys…they worked fantastic!

Also use the antlers from mid-sized deer for rattling’ antlers. Sound a pile better than the synthetic ones in my opinion.

Q: Duck calls, shell size?
Are there good and bad types of calls. Where I hunt their is alot of mallards and wood ducks. Is threr a better call for those types or are they all the same. Prices are so different, does it matter? What is the advantage/disadvantage to using a 3 1/2 inch shell vs. a 3 or 2 3/4 shell? I am new to duck hunting all help appreciated.

A: the current issue of field and stream has a good article on duck calls, they show high end ones and good entry level ones.

I use 3″ 1 1/8 oz #2 -#3 -#4 depending on where and what im hunting for, in the case of mallards and wood ducks i would go with the #3s, the 1 1/8oz load is a good balance of payload and velocity in my opinion. if your gun shoots 3 1/2″ shells and you can afford the premium they charge for them than go for it, however the 3″ gives more than enough payload/velocity for hunting over decoys.

i also like the hevi-steel shells by environ, not quite as expensive as hevi-shot but better than cheap steel.

Q: What are your duck hunting essentials?
i’ve only gone once, but the guy i went with said warm, earthy colored clothes, a few decoys, a duck call,a gun ( well duh), and a dog or a boat, or some waders. What are yours??

A: It all depends on what type of environment you hunt in. In wetlands or marsh/swamp areas you would want earth tones but also wetlands camo. Wear layers because a cold hunt is a bad hunt. You should have waders in whatever camo pattern the area you hunt in would match well with. You do not need either a boat or dog but they both come in handy, you don’t need the boat if you hunt a creek or pond or if you plan on hunting a walk in blind that is accessible by land, and the dog is helpful but not necessary. Decoys are a very good idea because they help bring in ducks (obviously) and they can make a good area look even duckier. You need to pick an area that looks ducky and make the area look duckier to be more successful. The most important thing would be to make sure that you blend in and do NOT move when ducks are circling over you scoping out your decoys, your blind/boat, your whole spot basically because if they see even the first thing that they don’t like then they will be gone instantly. DO NOT WEAR ORANGE! I have seen so many idiot hunters wearing orange while duck hunting that cannot figure out why they aren’t killing birds. The duck call is very helpful only if you learn to use it efficiently because using a duck call and not sounding like a duck will end your hunt early. Make sure you have your hunting license as well as your duck stamp because a game warden would love nothing more than to write you a ticket for not having your license or stamp. Be sure that you have the plug in your gun because that is the second thing checked by wardens. Know the bag limit for where you hunt and know what the ducks you can shoot look like.

Q: Duck calls?
Are there all different calls for all the different ducks? I would think there is, if so what do you use to call Buffleheads, or Canvasbacks. I am new to Duck hunting so all advice helpful. Are there any good videos that teach the different calls?

A: There are different calls for different ducks but an experienced caller can manipulate any sound out of a good caller. I’m not sure about video’s, I know that there are some out there. I was fortunate enough to date a native American girl whose father used to guide on Walpole Island (lake St. Clair Across the boarder from Algonac MI) and he taught me how to call. This is truly an art form and requires a lot of practice and experience to get it right, an inexperienced caller can do more damage than good while in the field. Try to find someone that can take you hunting and show you the ropes.
I use an OLT 66 for ducks, I looked at my goose caller and it doesn’t have a name on it but goose calling is easy compared to ducks. Olt’s are affordable, you don’t need to spend $60-$100. on a caller.

Another reason videos aren’t that good is because different areas require different approaches in calling. For example overcrowded area’s are usually flooded with hunters that over call. The ducks get hip to that and will shy away. you have to outsmart the guy in the next field by doing things differently such as a less desperate call.

Another tip, motion or RC decoys are the best but are illegal in my state (just don’t get caught). Also don’t waste your money on reg. size decoys use magnum only. As far as gun shot I use #2 Bismuth (2) shells backed up with a BB load in 3 1/2″ 12 ga. shells as the third for geese and long shots. I also use a modified choak.

Q: How to use duck decoys for goose hunting in nj?
I only have duck decoys but i want to hit up the goose season on a pond with my cousins. i have both a duck and goose call. i was wondering if there was a way to bring the geese in with a combination of duck and goose calls with only duck decoys

A: Just set out your duck decoys on the downwind side of the pond. Set up in between the decoys and the upwind side of the decoys. Geese like to come into the wind when landing. They’ll probably circle a time or two. If they have plenty of room to land they’ll set their wings over the decoys and land upwind up the decoys in the clear side of the pond. Use your goose call and give a feeding call. They will pay attention to duck decoys. If the pond is small, it may have to be a pass shoot. If it is big enough, let them land and then flush them.

Q: What equipment do you take when you are duck hunting.?
This will be one of my first duck hunts and I am wondering what to take other that decoys, gun, shells, waders. I mean where do I put my gun when I am calling and where do I put my ducks after I shoot them. Also where do I keep my extra shells etc. Thanks for the help.

A: in the timber….you hold your gun in one hand while calling with the other…between groups of ducks we hang our guns by slings on tree branches or sling them over our shoulder….buy a five dollar duck hanger & hang your ducks or hang them up in a bush or lay them on a nearby log…put your shells in your front wader pocket; thats where i keep mine if my coat’s off” & it’s hung over some branch”..if your coat’s on keep your shells in one of you coat pockets…we all carry a “purse”..cant get by without one…in it is a thermos of coffe; box of shells; extra callers; toilet paper; knife; somethin’ to eat; small flashlite…you know; stuff you gotta have but cant carry in your coat….now; we are able to drive our boats right up to where we hunt; if you’re walking in a heavily packed purse is out of the question..fill your pockets with shells; stick a 20 ounce soda in your other pocket & take off!!!!….have fun & be safe.we’ve been hunting the flooded timber since 1968.

Q: Help With Duck Calls…..?
I am a begining duck hunter and am trying to figure out what calls I need to begin hunting… Which calls are necessary? I am thinking a mallard and a woody and possibly a gadwall… Any sugestions?

A: The only 2 calls you will ever need are the Mallard and pintail whistle. I will answer in more detail.

Shure-shot makes a great duck call. Its an all wooden call, and the whistle has a wooden handle.

The mallard has the easiest call to mimic, as the pintail whistle is pretty easy too. and you can also use the pintail whistle for teal as well.

I personally use model 600 on this list. It is an affordable call AND it sounds as good as the $100 calls that you buy. It is a double reed, which makes it easier to blow and to replicate the different sounds that a duck will make. I have seen over the years that the mallard hen is the one that talks the most…just like the human counterpart. If you get on the internet you can download a bunch of sound files of teal, pintail and mallards. there are just a few of them that you need to get up and running. You will hear all of the fancy “World Champion” Duck callers and all that–They can make it sound good to you and me, but where it really counts is on those cold December Mornings when you have a flock of Mallards banking towards your spread. I have found that when the Duck call itself scares the birds, the whistle can be that extra nudge to bring the birds in.

Good Luck with it and I am really sorry to hear that you are getting into duck hunting. I hope you have a very understanding wife. Mine hates it and I get grief every time I go out. =)

A: Some stores do, it all depends on the location. Ours puts out calls, clothing, decoys, and accessories but usually pull it all about half way through the season. Sometimes you can pick up some pretty cheap clearance items when they are pulled.

Q: An idea for a Duck Hunt bonus level/minigame….How does this sound?
I think that they should put a mini-game on the upcoming Duck Hunt called Dick Hunt where instead of multiple ducks there would be multiple Dick Chaney clones that you could shoot in the face. Wouldn’t that be fun?

A: Ok first you can buy a duck call that all you have to do is blow in it, then if you see the ducks you lead them with your gun if they are in the air, cause if you shoot at them , then you will miss cause they were in front of the shot, then you go pick up you kill and put it in your vest and go for more!!

A: I looked this up once too. When you fire the gun the screen goes black except for a white square around the duck. It flashes this really quick but if your careful you can see the screen flash. The gun has a light sensor that can tell the white from the black. Gotta love 1980’s technology.

Q: How does the controller for the Nintendo game “Duck Hunt” and other video shooting games work?
How does the game know where you’re pointing relative to the screen?

A: the gun has a little camera inside it.. if you look closely at the ducks when you pull the trigger in Duck Hunt, you’ll notice a little box flash around the duck.. the camera inside the gun detects whether or not the gun is aimed at the screen and that’s how it determines if you have a hit or miss.. the sega shooter games were better because you couldn’t really see the flashes on the screen with your eyes, so it was a more realistic experience..

Q: Lab duck hunting?
are there any good websites or books/videos out there that are good/great for training labs to hunt ducks? I want to get my puppy (3 1/2 months) started as soon as possible. (looking for experienced people on this one) can anyone help?

Q: Anyone ever play this hunting video game for PC?
I remember playing it when I was younger, all I can remember about it is one of the characters in it was named Dirk and he was the “bad” hunter, and after you killed something, you could go to the kitchen and this old lady would give you recipe. You were able to hunt ducks, geese, turkey, and big game. Any input would be great being that I cannot remember the name of it to save my life!

Q: I have two video game questions. (Duck Hunt and Super Mario 3)?
In the game Duck Hunt, what is the number of ducks that appear in each round?

What is the number of magic whistles required to warp to the last level of Super Mario 3 ?

A: Here’s the answers you’ll want…

1) In Duck Hunt, each round is comprised of 10 ducks (either 1 or 2 at a time) or clay pigeons.

In the first 10 rounds, you only need to hit 6 to move on. However, the required hits increase starting at round 11 & you have to be perfect from round 20 onward to pass.

2) In Super Mario Bros. 3, you’ll need 2 out of the 3 Warp Whistles to warp from World 1, to World 9 (Warp Zone), to World 9 again, to World 8.

You need to be in World 7 or higher in order to reach to warp pipe to World 8. Since the Warp Zone is classified as World 9, using the 2nd Warp Whistle there will take you to the the World 8 pipe.

Just a friendly reminder, the Warp Whistles are located…

A) Behind the exit of Stage 1-3

B) In a hidden room in the World 1 fortress

C) Held by the traveling fire Bros. in a secret part of World 2

I won’t tell exactly how to get them… but they’re pretty much common knowledge with most players.

I use an OLT 66 for ducks, I looked at my goose caller and it doesn’t have a name on it but goose calling is easy compared to ducks. Olt’s are affordable, you don’t need to spend $60-$100. on a caller.

Another reason videos aren’t that good is because different areas require different approaches in calling. For example overcrowded area’s are usually flooded with hunters that over call. The ducks get hip to that and will shy away. you have to outsmart the guy in the next field by doing things differently such as a less desperate call.

Another tip, motion or RC decoys are the best but are illegal in my state (just don’t get caught). Also don’t waste your money on reg. size decoys use magnum only. As far as gun shot I use #2 Bismuth (2) shells backed up with a BB load in 3 1/2″ 12 ga. shells as the third for geese and long shots. I also use a modified choak.

A: I know what you are talking about but also cannot remember the name. I remember it was around 60 dollars, but you had to use the old cartridges. I strongly recommend you NOT doing this since some of these games are 20 years old and you will have to be constantly cleaning them.

Q: What size motor for duck hunting boat?
I am going to buy a suzuki 4 stroke motor for my 9 foot aluminum duck boat. They have a 2.5 hp for $650 or a 4 hp for $980. The 2.5 weighs like 35 lbs, the 4 hp weighs 55 lbs. I’m not sure if the 2.5 will be enough. I’ve never had a boat motor before. I will be duck hunting with this boat. Mostly alone, sometimes with another person. Will the 2.5 be enough?

A: It’s the horse power rating you need to be concerned about. Look on the transom. You will find a tag that the Coast Guard rates your vessel at. It will have maximum horse power, number of persons, weight, etc. That’s what I would go off of.

My boat is a 14 footer and it rates for a 10 horse, but I’ve beefed up the transom considerably. Not knowing if you have a flat bottomed or V hulled john boat, I would still think the 4 horse would be alright. You may have to move your fuel tanks to the front or even add weight to properly balance your boat to maximize the motors efficiency.

A: i work on boats offshore for a living and i have a little boat like the one you are explaining you don’t need more than a 7.5 hp motor for it i put a 10 on mine and i could not see over the front because of the weight on the back and the front kicking up when you are Driving unless you have a couple people on the front and about the leaks get 5200 marin caulking to fill all your seems and it will stop all leaks the caulking is very strong so if you get it on you get it off it a thick type of supper glue for that kind of stuff

A: i dont think you will be able to build for $300. you need to use marine plywood and it’s very expensive. if you plan to carry decoys netting etc., you will need at least a 12ft. boat and only on calm water. if you have a friend along you need 14 ft.. look around for an aluminum john boat used. also how do you plan to move it?. a triangle shape will not have enough interior space to carry you and the gear you will need. be sure and have a life vest on. dont pay any attention to the lettuce heads on here. their ancestors were hunters and killed for food which is why we have to put up with their whining today.

I was given a one man duck hunting layout boat that needs some serious work. I work with wood often, but my projects normally don’t need to float! I’ve stripped all of the fiberglass off of her and I have dryrot in a few places. I know to tear out the bad wood and replace. What kind of wood should I use, the frame looks like oak and the “skin” or “strips” on the outside look like cedar or pine. It’s all been nailed, why no screws? Do I need to counter sink the nails or screws and fill with a epoxy? What type of fiberglass? weight? What kind of fiberglass epoxy should I use? What kind of paint? It needs to be flat gray with black stripes to look like michigan water… The bottom is plywood, looks like Home Depot stuff, all rotted out, what should I repalce it with?

A: First off I do not consider myself an expert on boat building although i have built three life sizec boats. The plwood needs to be marine grade. and the sides need to be be matched with the existing wood. As far as fiber glass goes, we always used the automotive grade fiberglass resine and harner with the largest fiberglass matting sheets we could find. The thickness of the fiberglass should be between 3/32 and a 1/4 of an inch thick… i would shoot for about 3/32 for weight purposes.
Nails or screws…good question…I use nails counter sunk and filled in by the fiberglass, but my friend swears by screws filled with calking on the inside and fiberglass on the outside. Wich brings me to another good poing make sure to seal the boat on both the inside and outside to keep out the water.

Lastly paint…I like to use house paint that goes on with a brush…just make sure it isn’t water soluable.

All of your supplyies can be baught at Home Depot or Lowes. Even Wall Mart carries most of them, minus the wood, if you are so inclined to go that route.

If you don’t load your boat down to much a 9 hp may plane your boat. If you carry some weight or other hunters you will need more power like 15-20hp. You don’t want to run it at full throttle for long.I have always used a 25hp on a 14-16 ft starcraft deep vhull and it works good for decoys and 3 men and dog.

If you just go a few hundred yards you can put around with a 5hp

Honestly motors are expensive. You can ck your local paper ads and ck with the boat and motor dealers for a used model.

A: Check local classifieds. Boat are cheap right now. Small jon boats are really cheap right now. Also watch the side of the road, some people just set them in the yard with a for sale sign on them and no other advertising.

In most duck hunting situations khaki works better than green. If you want green at least hit it with some brown and or black splotches of krylon to break it up some.

i have a 14 jon boat with a blind that i duck hunt with. i am interested in painting it camo. does any body have any tips?

A: If the boat already has green or brown base coat on it you can use spray paint. There are some camo colored spray paints from Krylon. Wash it well with TSP. Let it dry. Make some stencils and get creative with the spray paints.

Another way is to cut some sponges into leaf shapes, dab them in paint and stamp them on the hull.

Either way, get a big cardboard box and practice on that until you get your technique down.

If there is no primer coat or it’s peeling off, you should lightly sand the boat, wash with TSP, wipe down with acetone and then put a coat of aluminum rated marine primer on it. If you don’t do this, regular paint will peel off below the water line.

If you do it right, it will last for years with just a few touch ups for scratches.

A: Depends on the kind of duck hunting you will do.
But a nice 10, 12 or 20 ga shotgun with interchangeable choke tubes made for steel shot.
Non-lead shot shells; steel, bismuth or heavy shot shotgun shells. Some good rain gear and rubber boots or hip waders, Warm under garments and socks.
A well trained lab retriever.
Good shooting glasses help in low light.
A small light weight boat about 10 to 12 foot long with oars or small outboard motor is nice for inland waters. Or a nice duck boat.
Some decoys and calls are helpful if you know how to use them. Lots of practice at trap or skeet.

With a dog you can puddle jump. Meaning you walk along ponds and have the dog retrieve the ducks you shoot.
Some build a sunken blind and camo it well and set the decoys out in front of it and have the dog retrieve or use the duck boat.

Be sure to study photos of ducks in your area and be able to identify them it may save you a fine. Then make sure you have your hunting license, state and federal duck stamps before you go. Go over the regulations until you know them well and know what land you are on by referring to maps.

If you haven’t plucked a duck you may want to buy a machine for that, they save lots of work, although you will still have to deal with some feathers.

This year we decided to draw names and make stuff for whoever we drew. I of course got my BIL, who doesn’t eat a lot of sweets. So, I have NO IDEA of what to do!!!

He does a lot of duck hunting, has 2 black Labs, does deep sea fishing, cooks a lot and its kind of like Cajun food and grilling – never follows a recipe and its always AWESOME, likes Mississippi State (I’m assuming basket and football…)

A: Why not find some small, neat glass container to recycle and decorate. Then go to the food network and look up the recipes for Emeril’s Essence and Paula’s House Spices. You can get packetts of spices to use for the mix for under a buck at the grocery store or containers of them at Big Lots. They also have recipes for all kinds of cajun spice rubs for BBQ that use many of the same simple spices.

Now, I am from Alabama, so I definitely saw a lot of that “Nuke France” nonsense before the Iraq war. I remember the “right-wing pundits” screaming at President Chirac for not contributing soldiers to the Iraq War, even though he already committed troops to Afghanistan.

But actually, when I went and visited France last year, I had an awesome time.

I booked a hunting trip as part of my vacation. I wanted to see “Red Province France,” since I’ve already seen Red State America.

I rented a car and drove from Paris down to a city called Limoges. I stayed with some regular people I’d talked to over the internet. These were regular folks with regular jobs – believe it or not, France also has steelworkers, loggers, soldiers, cops, gun shop owners, and all the rest.

The wine and beer was awesome. But the highlight was when we went hunting for boar in some of the forests around town. I had imported my own rifle, and the local guys had their own gun collections, and we bagged right up to the tag limit.

The feast that night – just awesome. I’m talking about roasted boar, gallons of wine, big wheels of cheese, rabbit meat, quails, ducks, and all kinds of good stuff from the forest. Some guy even brought over some deer jerkey that he made the other day.

After that, I drove east, visited the French Alps, then kept on going south until I got to the Medeterranian Sea. Some nice beaches – the women don’t hide anything, if you know what I mean!

Then I drove back up, dropped off some gifts from the folks I stayed with in Limoges, tried out some of the French I learned, and then headed back up to Paris for a couple days before flying back.

Why would anyone here in America hate on France in this day and age? They’ve got special forces in Afghanistan. They’ve actually killed more Somali pirates than America so far. They’ve got a big population of gun owners (and handgun owners) who believe in the right to bear arms. They’ve got some awesome hunting. They salute their flag just like we do ours.

WWII jokes are one thing (the war ended 64 years ago, by the way), but modern hate just seems ignorant. Y’all should visit rural France. Bet you’d enjoy it.

PREFACE

Death- death was someone or something that hunted me. I had stared into the hollow eyes of death more than I should have. But each time I had walked into death I had walked out of it. Surely this was not where I was going to die?
Was this the feeling you got when you knew you were going to die. What was dying to the undead? Instead of imprisonment was it a journey?
Surely this was not the worst place to die. I had all the people I loved. All my family. I had everyone. If I was going to die it would be in a noble manner. With the ones I loved.
I knew death was coming and I knew I could run. Far away from all of this. But how could you run when you would endanger, hurt someone you loved so much. Loved with all you heart, yet were not able to save. How could you hurt them?
This was the end, or was it?
As thoughts of love and death ran through my head a mysterious darkness rolled out from the forest line.

New Day

The clouds gave way in the north. I looked up adverting my gaze from the rest of my family.
Twilight.
A flash back took me to the dim human memory of Edward standing in my shabby old room. The end of the day, yet I had forever in my dream place with Edward. And forever was the only amount of time I was going to settle for.
I sighed with uncertain emotion. A long time had past. Though Charlie hair glinted with silver I remained the same as ever. Eighteen forever, it seemed like a perfect fairytale with Edward as prince. But no matter how much I tried to reason with myself I felt twinge of regret. I knew one day I would lose Charlie. It was not just Charlie I would lose. All of my friends, everyone.
Without much effort I lifted myself up from the mat where the rest of my family sat. I glanced at the rest of my family bathing in the precious sun. There skin glittered like a million diamonds. The sight of Edward’s dazzling face hit me harder than the day in the meadow. Yet this time I was not scared. Instead I was completely lost in this face. I stared down to his face with slight resentment of his beauty.
I knew that my perfect body matched perfectly with his. My body, the phrase seemed utterly wrong. I still could not get used to my body. For so long I had been the average person. Not shining in anyway. Then suddenly I became this beautiful person. I was starting to think that the body was not for me.
With slight reluctance I started walking in the direction of Jacob and Renesmee. The white sand grains rubbed under my feet and the long narrow strip of beach was now shining under the beautiful sunset. In a blurred action Edward was right next to me. His hand felt warm in mine. I looked up to his face to his golden eyes looking down on me. Embarrassed I looked away staring at the foam in the sea.
Edward’s warm hand brushed upon my chin lifting my face to his gently. His warm eyes clouded me in love. His silky skin caressed my cheek and his honey sweet breath trickled over to me. I lifted my lips to touch his.

If my heart was still beating it would have been pounding. I looked up to him and he smiled down on me. All my stress lifted from me and I grinned sheepishly at him. The sky was painted in unearthly underwater blue ranging across all shades.

Jacob and Renesmee were playing in the warm sea. The smell of salt drifted all over the beach. The pulsing of Jacob’s and Renesmee’s heart echoed on the rocks simultaneously.
Jacob ducked under the water lifting Renesmee up out of the foam onto to his shoulders. Renesmee ringing laughter resounded and she giggled girlishly. Jacob’s rough black hair was in an army haircut it was like little thorns spiking up in every direction. Renesmee hair was soaked and the illuminating sky made her curly bronze hair shine. Her warm brown eyes clouded with adoration for her young love.
She was beautiful and she deserved all the love that Jacob could give her. Yet even in happiness I couldn’t feel paranoid about the fact that one day Jacob would die. Renesmee would lose her love forever. How could she ever survive that?
So many times I had put my own life on the line for Edward. I knew that life without him would be no life at all. She would not be able to deal with all that grief. She loved Jacob like I loved Edward yet she would be hurt if she loved him anymore.
I rocked on my heels coming to a standstill. The movement was done in one second. Time was nothing to me and Edward but for Renesmee. I rested my head against Edward’s chest. Warmth radiated through the thin material of his tight top. His muscles on his arms rippled beautifully as his arms wrapped around me. He lifted my chin up and kissed me tenderly.

A: Some of the best hunting is in Eagle Lake, Texas and Liberty, Texas.

13 acres of primarily duck hunting land with frontage on 2 lakes in Minnesota.

A: It depends on what you are leasing it for.

If it’s a vacation property with a residential house on it, there are several websites where you can advertise your “vacation rental” for lease by the day, week or month. I really like vrbo.com (stands for “vacation rentals by owner”), and there are properties on there from all over the world. I don’t think it’s that expensive to advertise, however I don’t know that the site attracts a lot of hunters.

If you’re trying to lease it for the entire hunting season, you might try putting a small classified ad in the back of a hunting magazine. If there’s no place to stay on the property, however, you might want to keep your listing more local–call around to the local sporting goods stores (Cabellas, for example) and see if they have a bulletin board where you can advertise your land for lease by the day, week, month or the entire season.

A: Those of us who live in northeastern Oklahoma, where most of the state’s big reservoirs are located, sometimes fall into the thinking that all the ducks that migrate through our state follow the big waters. But big numbers of ducks move through central and western Oklahoma.

When I was growing up in Enid and going to college in Alva, I enjoyed some highly productive duck and goose hunting around Salt Plains and Canton lakes, and on some private-land ponds.

A: A duck decoy…preferably a few of them. Ducks are flocking animals and prefer to be among other ducks. That’s the whole purpose of a duck decoy…encouraging them to flock together.

A: I’ve always found that if I approach them pre season and ask for permission to hunt their land, in return for maybe helping with some chores, repairing fences ( I even painted a barn for hunting rights) that they are very receptive.

A: better bring some old bread with you, you might be able to get one to get close enough to smack it on the head with a hammer. on bigger lakes the ducks will be fairly tame, and used to people, so getting close isn’t that hard. don’t let anyone catch you, im guessing it would be illegal. also maybe step it up to a large shovel, a hammer is kinda weak unless your good at throwing.

A: North or South Dakota, cheap land and the best duck and goose hunting I have ever done in my life and pheasant hunting too. These two states are smack dab in the middle of the Mississippi flyway.

A: Migratory waterfowl are either flying, on the water or landing on the water. I’m afraid that if you are going to hunt duck, you need to get wet. A boat may not be required, but waders or at the very least good boots and gear are.

Also, don’t be going in the water or on the water alone if you are inexperienced. The forest can be forgiving but the water will kill you dead in a minute, especially if it’s cold.

As to the use of public land, you will need to carefully read and understand the rules and laws from your state’s wildlife management department. Go to your state government’s website, and you should be able to locate the agency. Often called ‘Dept of Natural Resources’, ‘Fish and Game’, ‘Wildlife and Fisheries’, or something along those lines. They usually have a toll free information number you can call.

You need to find some friends that duck hunt. There is a lot to know about where and how to hunt that you just can’t understand until you go out and experience it.

Perhaps you should hire yourself a hunting guide for a couple of days. For someone that’s new at hunting, there is no better learning experience than having a professional that does this every day take them out.

A: I’m not sure about Texas but here in NC hunting on lakes is permitted as long as you aren’t within 100 yards of a house. So basically find a place in the back of a cove, or at the entrance to a cove, or on an island on a lake. In these spots try finding downed trees to stash a boat behind, look for high grass, look for places that seem ducky. If you can go out with binoculars and scope out where the ducks like to be so that you can set up and wait on them. Good luck and happy hunting.

I hunt Lake Conroe near Conroe, TX all of the time, and it seems like the hunter population is increasing and the bird population is decreasing (season by season). Its pretty disappointing. Im looking to expand my hunting grounds to the east and north east. I read an article about some public hunting land near Athens, TX called Richland Creek WMA near Richland-Chambers Resevoir.

I was wondering if anyone has hunted in or around this area and if so, what can you tell me about it? How are the bird numbers? Any Advice? Also, does anyone have a recomendations for other places to hunt in east to northeast texas? Thanks alot!

A: Richland Creek Wildlife Management Area is located in an ecotone separating the Post Oak Savannah and Blackland Prairie ecological regions and the Area lies almost entirely within the Trinity River flood plane. The Area is subject to periodic and prolonged flooding. Average annual rainfall is 40 inches. Soils consist primarily of Trinity and Kaufman clays. These bottomland soils are highly productive and support a wide array of bottomland and wetland dependant wildlife and vegetation communities.

Vast bottomland hardwood forest communities characterized by cedar elm, sugarberry, and green ash dominate the area. Honey locust, boxelder, and black willow are also common. Pockets of bur oak, shumard oak, overcup oak, water oak, willow oak, and native pecan also occur. The understory is dominated by hawthorn, cat briar, poison ivy, and rattan with shade tolerant grasses and forbs comprising the herbaceous layer. Large non-forested areas also occur and are characterized by diverse herbaceous communities.

The vast bottomland hardwood forests serve as nesting and brood rearing habitat for many species of neotropical birds. The Area has numerous marshes and sloughs, which provide habitat for migrating and wintering waterfowl, wading birds and shore birds, as well as diverse aquatic life.

Restrooms unavailable.
Flooding may occur during heavy rains, so be prepared to move to higher ground.
ATV’s allowed only during special permit hunts.
Each permit holder may possess one dog while hunting waterfowl, squirrels or rabbits. Companion dogs must be leashed or confined within designated campsites.

Go to gander mountain or where ever you got your license and ask for the “hunting and trapping digest.” It has the exact times and everything just to make sure you are within legal hunting hours and whatnot. Also, make sure you have your duck stamps! If you don’t, its a federal offense!

A: Have a theme and strategy to follow to help you build a deck. Having monsters, spells and traps that cooperate with each other like your Harpie Lady 1 2 3 and Elegant Egotist is a good example. You have some good cards, good luck in building your deck. Creativity is a good tool to use.
